    Consulting

Edo Becker works as a technical consultant for the application and promotion of process analytical technology (PAT) in the petrochemical industry. He specialises in spectroscopic process analysis of liquid, gaseous and solid processes in petrochemical, biofuel and refinery product streams. His experience covers the entire PAT implementation chain: from initial laboratory studies and their chemometric evaluation through long-term pilot plant studies to full-scale implementation on the process plant.

    Topics in Detail

    • PhD at the Alfred Wegener Institute (Potsdam) on spectroscopic studies of the Arctic atmosphere, postdoc at the Centre for Marine and Atmospheric Sciences in Sunderland
    • 17 years at BP Chemicals in Hull, mainly applying spectroscopic process analytical technology; also development of new process analysers such as non-invasive ultrasonic analysers
    • 2018 to 2025 collaboration with the UK PAT companies Specac and Keit Spectrometers
    • Member of the DIN committee for analytical standards for fuels and heating oils, of the DGMK research advisory board, and Associate Member of CPACT
    • Author and co-author of several technical papers, named inventor on four patents in chemical engineering and process analytics
